Our Approach

Our approach to implementing AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS) for Al-Safadi involved configuring replication settings to mirror their current infrastructure, specifying storage needs, and installing the AWS Replication Agent on their systems. We set up a disaster recovery plan that included regular drills to ensure system readiness and rapid recovery. This strategy aimed to minimize downtime and data loss by utilizing AWS’s cost-effective storage and minimal compute requirements. Additionally, Veeam backup on AWS is used to protect the AWS instances , configurations and support backup and granular-level recovery including files. This ensures Al-Safadi’s business continuity with robust disaster recovery and backup capabilities and swift application recovery in AWS.

The current infrastructure consists of a VPC with public and private subnets, Auto Scaling groups behind an Application Load Balancer (ALB) to ensure high availability and scalability, and RDS (MySQL) for database management. To maintain security and compliance, we have configured AWS WAF and AWS Config, while AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) handles SSL/TLS certificates and Route 53 manages DNS. Implementing AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS) involves configuring replication settings, specifying storage, installing the AWS Replication Agent, and conducting regular readiness drills. This ensures that we can swiftly recover applications on AWS in the event of a disaster, minimizing downtime and data loss. Additionally, we utilize Veeam Backup on AWS to protect instances and other AWS components, providing granular-level recovery. Veeam Backup for AWS allows you to restore the VPC configuration to the original location or to a new location.Our solution provides peace of mind with robust disaster recovery capabilities, ensuring that business operations can continue smoothly even in the face of unexpected disruptions.
